Happy Monday! Well, this weekend was fairly uneventful. I basically cleaned, did laundry, finished up another school week, grocery shopped and meal prepped. My husband had his USCG Reserves duty this weekend and unfortunately worked later than planned both days, which made my 9-mile training run not possible. I’m a little bummed, but I’ve learned in this training process from others that have gone through it that it’s OK to miss some runs and to just keep trudging forward and not over-train by trying to make up the miles. At this point, I’m certain I could make it through a 13 mile run if I had to because I know I would just push myself to finish and I workout regularly so health isn’t an issue. It’s just I’m not a “runner” so I have to push myself harder mentally. That being said though, I am still going to be good and do my best to keep up with my training. I think I’m also going to start some Insanity workouts a few times a week as my cross-training. I have always run a little better when I’ve been doing a lot of HIIT. It definitely helps stamina. I really liked this quote I found – it’s true, especially in those long runs because before this process I had never tested myself running further than a 10K and now I’ve done 8 and plan to do 9-10 this weekend.
I did get in a nice neighborhood walk with my next door neighbor bestie, Natalie. We were both asking ourselves why we haven’t done this before – she had her girls in her stroller and I had Farrah in mine. Then we let the girls play for a while in the front yard while we indulged in some girl talk. I think we are going to try to make Cooper River Bridge walks a regular thing for us.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I helped the kids make their Valentine boxes (read: I made them completely by myself because they were no help.) I thought they turned out cute…nothing too fancy though.
The husband and I don’t really have any Valentine’s Day plans…it’s on a Wednesday this year – boo. We don’t really get all into this holiday anyway. We do have a date night (finally) on Friday. Our church is having a service for married couples so I signed us up. This is part of my 18 for 2018 goals to be more involved in our church and take advantage of some of the great services they offer.
Anyway, not a lot else to report today. I may try to get out to the beach for an hour or so later this afternoon…I’m definitely craving it!
